Spent a long Memorial Day weekend at the Sea Shell Motel and was less then overjoyed. Our very first impression (the most important) was that of smelling wet dog in the room the second we walked in. We have spent many a night in pet friendly rooms and have never experienced such a strong smell of dog in the past.
While the Motel does allow pets, they charge a non-refundable $20 per night for the privilege and then ask that you don't walk your pet on their property. What kind of policy is that for a "pet friendly" establishment?
The faucet fixtures in both the shower and the kitchenette felt like they were about to fall off and on a couple of occasions, we had no hot water for a shower. Another thing that bugged us (quite literally) was that there was no screen on the sliding door out to the patio. This allowed quite a few pests into the room during our stay.
Great place to stay right on the water with your pets
To top things off, sleeping for me was very difficult because the walkway light was right outside our door and lit up the room like Christmas tree. As far as I could tell there was no way to turn it off and no room darkening shade on the door to block out the light.
All in all I'd be hard pressed to offer more than 2 stars for this motel. With a few simple upgrades and policy changes they would have a really nice little spot but until that happens I cannot recommend this place.
Ordinary motel, but wonderful beach access. This is like a motel 6 on the beach, if that makes sense. Nice place for what it is - beach access being the primary advantage. They have coffee in the lobby and the rooms have a small frig. So you can spend a quite low cost weekend in cape cod. This isn't much else nearby, so you have to drive to restaurants and shops.
The room was very small and laid out in a strange way. For example, there was a sofa in the room but you could not watch TV while sitting in it. My biggest complaint was with the WiFi. The first couple of nights we could get no service at all without stepping outside the room (cell service was also nearly non existent inside the room). The Motel owners really need to upgrade the WiFi. I know many people go to the Cape to escape technology but for some of us it is a necessity.
Small private quiet motel. Lovely rooms with beautiful oceanfront views. I stayed here alone and felt very safe. Staff were friendly and helpful and kind. You can meet the other guests and their pets. You can see the dogs but they were not a nuisance. The pet owners were very respectful. Great place. I will be back again and again!
Clean. Private beach. Very nice staff. Some rooms are pet friendly. Had a great time. Dennis port is lovely. Lots of nearby eateries
